I saw Sketchabilities #31 Here and made this page based on the scrapbooking sketch:
I feel a bit like I did senior year of highschool - ready to go. When I was 18 I got on a plane and came here to Florida without knowing anyone here, I was ready for new things. Then I did a lot of traveling when I was in college - a month in Greece, six months in London, and several other weeks at a time trips all over Europe by Eurorail staying in youth hostels. New new new - I thrive on new places. I seriously miss those days. I haven't gone anywhere but DisneyWorld or on Carnival Cruises in a really long time. I feel stagnant, tied down, and heavy, like the oysters Anne Lindberg talks about in her book A Gift From The Sea. I'm sort of max-ed out on places I've already seen. I have a need to see new places. To just go without hyperplanning - just going whereever my fancy takes me.
The kids really haven't been old enough, in my opinion to go on grand aventures yet and anything with kids requires planning and bringing lots of struff - not exactly the recipe for adventure; but they are getting older and I'm seriously pulling for some family travel. I'd like to get all of us passports and go somewhere new that we've never seen before. Anywhere really - it just needs to be new to me. There is so much world out there, I'd like to see some more of it. I vowed to make this the year of travel and except for a trip to North Carolina - I haven't really gone anywhere, work has been especially busy and hard this year and the economy, well, we are feeling the effects and we're fine, but we aren't exactly in a position to do a lot of traveling.
So I do find myself fantasizing about going - traveling - seeing new things and new places. I do know that my life will probably get to a place again where I can travel, but in the meantime, I'm a little sad that I got this passport picture taken last year but we haven't even bothered to re-new our passports because we've got no immediate international travel plans. Maybe next year, maybe by putting down my travel frustrations on paper, I can put it out there to the universe that I'm ready for some traveling. So I'm putting this page in my "On The Go" 9x9 minibook - perhaps I'll be able to put some actual travel pages in there sometime in the near future, oh please universe - I seriously need to go somewhere - somewhere fun.
