Still trying to get a better "selfie" and feeling a bit fat - I did a half-hearted return to a strict diet and exercise routine but got derailed mid week when lots of other stuff zapped me and I just sort of needed a big bowl of apple pie ice cream:
Its been one of those weeks when not much happened but a lot of things happened. Cryptic right? Or possibly an over-share? Without going too much into it, it was a week when advanced mothering skills were needed and I feel like I'm re-learning stuff and that new skills are going to be needed for the next phase : The Pre-Teen Years. My kids are 9 and 11 and I feel like we are there on the verge of puberty. Last weekend we had "the talk" and there's just been a variety of other things that have come up this week which are most likely unrelated. I think we are all ok, but I'm kind of emotionally exhausted.
I have been working on finishing an album which has turned into finishing three albums: Home Sweet Home / Everyday Life; Skiing; and Swimming. I'll have a video share up sometime this weekend.
Carrying on, here's my Photo Friday:
Allison got word that she'll be testing for her Orange Belt in Karate next month.
Mac is going through a very extensive 4 month Black Belt Testing Period with 20 other black belt candidates and he had his "8 hour or an eternity" Black Belt Test on Saturday.
As a reward , I brought him to the Renaissance Fair for getting through his 8 hour Black Belt Test and I think he may have found his people; we might just go back this weekend - it is in town until April 8th. He loved the real life Chess match and the jousting. We topped off our awesome day with his first trip to The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant and he decided it was the best chicken he'd ever eaten.
Last night we did some fishing to relax and he caught a little fish and we fed it to Henry The Heron who was very curious and friendly and hung out with us on the dock while we fished. We also got a new bait trap so we can do some more fishing since it is something we all enjoy.
That blur is my daugther the cartwheel machine. She quit gymnastics, at least for a while, she's planning on starting up again next month. Meantime, she practices her cartwheels about 1000 times a day; we doubled up the throw rug so that she's got some extra padding. Its all cartwheels all the time - she has done this sort of thing before - with hula hoops and jump roping - she practices non stop until she gets it. Go girl!
And Charlie's been getting more involved in local politics and he drove me to the voting place on Tuesday to make sure I voted - I did - and his horse won and I think he's joined some of the committees since he now attends local government meetings. For years he's wanted to get into local politics and for years I've been discouraging it because we already have a lot on our plates, but perhaps as the kids are getting older, Charlie's political aspirations will get some more time and attention. Meantime, he loves the Home Sweet Home scrapbook album that I've been finishing.
Its cold here in Florida and we are looking forward to the weekend. What are you up to?
