Welcome to Day #3 of my Stash Scrapping September blog series!
Creating a blog series is one way that I like to motivate myself to get more layouts finished, but getting feedback motivates me even more. So THANK YOU for the encouraging comments!
This blog series is all about finishing scrapbook pages and projects that I started but didn't finish. Today I'm tackling using up some of the travel memorabilia I collected during our cruise this past spring (we went on the Carnival Breeze and it is a really fun ship - it is a new ship that is styled differently than the rest of the fleet). I always come back from trips with lots of brochures and maps that I envision myself using on scrapbook pages, but more often than not, the stacks of travel brochures just create clutter tucked away in a closet. I decided to "use it or lose it" with this stack of travel ephemera and I used my square punch to pick random bits that related to our trip. I arranged the squares in a grid patteren; and then, (wait for it),,, I THREW AWAY! the rest of the travel brochures! Wow was that liberating - my son was in the room while I did it and he was a bit shocked - like "NO Mommy! We're supposed to save those right?" So this exercise also helped in making sure that my kids don't think I'm a hoarder! Yay for throwing stuff away!
I also stash busted a bunch of vellum tags that were in an unopened package from at least ten years ago! I wanted to use the Graphic 45 paper with the ships but it was just way too busy on this layout; so I muted down the bright colors of the Graphic 45 patterned paper with the vellum tags and then I matted my photo on a big tag to tie in the theme of luggage tags.
Supplies: Graphic 45 paper; KI Memories tags; Studio Calico papers, Paper Reflections Creative Tags in vellum, ribbon, brads, and a square punch and a bit of machine stitching.
Thanks for stopping by & please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you!
