Welcome to Day 1 and 1/2 of Scrapbooking My Midlife Crisis:
Yes I did take our first official belly dancing class!
So here's a recap of Day 1:
I stuck to the Whole 30 Diet and had salad for breakfast; tuna for lunch and chicken for dinner. I did put a very small touch of ranch on my chicken which is a no-no. But overall? I did fine and I wasn't hungry. I am concerned about not weighing myself for 30 days. A friend emailed me to say that she didn't think I was fat. Thank you. But, I actually am. I am 5 feet 3 inches and I weigh (gasp) 180 pounds - the same amount as when I started my "lose 50 pounds" goal a few years ago. I did lose 35 pounds by vigorous exercise but over the past year, the 35 pounds crept back. So here I am. Just ask Wii Fit. I am obese. According to weight charts I should be between 111 and 147. At 180 I am definitely overweight. I am owning it. I'm not proud of it. If it makes you feel any better, when I visualize myself in my head, its my 16 year old body - back when I weighed 103 pounds, wore a size 3 in jeans while sporting a D cup - so I looked pretty awesome back in the day. Now, I look awesome in my head, but when I see pictures or a rear view mirror, well, reality hits and I know that I need to get to a healthier weight.
My daughter and I did our first official belly dancing class and even learned a little routine and it was fun to be in a room full of women learning something new. Before class, she also had a chance to try the Fly Gym / Aerial Yoga - she wants us to sign up for that immediately - I have to admit - it looks like fun. One thing at a time, and this month is all about belly dancing.
