Stacy makes videos called "Dozen Day" in which she shares the last 12 layouts she made and explains them, so the students in class want to do some too.  Here was my answer to Rhonda:

Hi Rhonda! OH Funny :) Ok.  I have videos on ustream which I film with a Microsoft web cam and I film the 10 minute videos for you tube on my husband's ipad. I have also used my iphone on the fly - like when I was skiing - to film and upload. I am not technically awesome by any stretch so when I have glitches I call in the computer man (aka my husband) to fix things. I'll check in to class now. P.S. I'm in my scrapbook room now and am torn between making a scrapbook page or an art journal page. I would love to combine those two worlds more.

PLEASE NOTE:  That I really tried to keep the videos under 10 minutes because my iPad condenses them to under 10 but I went over a bit so when I uploaded them I labeled them as  #1, #3, #5, #7, and #9 in case I had to add in supplements - I didn't - so they are labeled with ODD numbers only on You Tube but there is 5 (five) of them.

National Scrapbooking Day Circle Circle Dot Sketch Challenge

The National Scrapbooking Day Blog's Circle Circle Dot Sketch Challenge:

This is my layout number one for National Scrapbooking Day 2012!  The link to the challenge site is up top.  Here are some details - I love the sparkles on some of the eggs - this was an Easter / spring paper from the Dear Lizzy line a few years back.  I made the yellow striped banner by using a square punch to make the indent in the paper ribbon (a clever trick I saw on Pinterest). The letters are from Pebbles Inc. and I've had them in my scrapbooking stash for years; and the scalloped paper is from the old Sassafrass Lass paper line.  All old stuff, but I think the colors make it look fresh.  What do you think?

The Hunger Games Scrapbooking District 11 + A 2 Peas Garden Girls Memory Keeping Monday Scrapbooking Challenge

I posted The Hunger Games Scrapbooking Challenge for District 11 this morning but used layouts that I already created in the video and blog post.  So I was feeling a bit like I didn't get to play enough.  So, after work, I came home and had to bust out a layout quick about agriculture.  We've been working on our herb garden.  I went to Two Peas in a Bucket for a little layout inspiration and found a Memory Keeping Monday with Jen Gallacher challenge to alter a sticker, check it out: 

 

So I connected dystopia with gardening and scrapbooking with stickers and stamps, totally logical right?  Want more randomness?  Watch me explain my layout and herb garden but please don't tell Charlie that I brought his iPad outside!

Ta-Da!  All these random things mixed up on one page makes me so happy and I had lots of fun making the page and the dorky video.

School Themed Scrapbooking

I started a School Scrapbook Album for this school year inspired by Becky Higgins' Project Life and Stacy Julian's 180 School Album.  I just used some 8.5 x 11 page protectors with slots for 4x6 photos and three ringed notebooks from the office supply store, I also used some calendar stamps for the side panels to make sure I keep everything in order.   Here are the title page and the first couple of weeks:

 
Yes, we are guilty of letting our kids skip two days in the 2nd week for our trip to Maine - it was a highly learning experience, so I'm ok with this.  I actually ordered a photo book for our trip to Maine and had it done the day we got back - I'll post that soon.

I like to include some pages in my school scrapbooking that is not all about school but are about things that happen over and over - like getting the kids ready in the morning.  I made this page about the morning rush to school and how its always a challenge to get my kids in the car with all their stuff and their shoes on!  I used some old photos that were appropriate, but we still have this issue many days (thankfully not today).

 
Journaling:  "Photos Taken 4/2010 2nd Grade.  These photos explain why we now have a rule that you must put your shoes on before getting in the car to go to school.  These Photos could go in the "No David!" Books!"  Love Mom 9/2011.

May 13 Scrapbook Inspiration {Stacy Julian} : So Smart!

 
The Inspiration:  Ok, first off, I love this layout.  But I never would have made it but for Stacy Julian's Creative Crop Challenge to use 10 products + 10 techniques + 10 words.  Midway through I didn't think I was going to be able to get it done, but the grid at the bottom really helped.  Some things I've always loved about Stacy Julian:  she gets to the heart of the matter with scrapbooking; she encourages scrapbookers to try new things; and she's an imperfectionist.  Also, I know that she also has a boy who has ADHD & she told me about a book called "The Gift of ADHD" so ever since then I've thought about my son as having the super power of ADHD - that it is actually something kind of cool and useful and creative  and good - its just that he isn't going to fall into the lines like the majority of other kids - and that - while it isn't always easy - it is a good thing.    I often tell my son that God chose him special for our family and for me and that he chose me special for my son - that God knew that we were exactly what each other needed.  I love my son like no other love and I even love his ADHD brain, challenging as it may be at times, its him and I love him.  And its all good.  And that is perhaps why Stacy Julian always strikes such a deep chord with me - she's about fun & creativity & making the best of whatever life is & being thankful for it.  Oh yes.  I'm a huge fan of Stacy Julian.

May 8 Scrapbook Inspiration {Die Cuts} : Goodbye City Life

Inspiration:  Two Peas in a Bucket Challenge:  Products You Love Every Which Way - use Die Cuts on a layout.  I used my Fiskars scallop circle punch and my Quic Kutz Button die cut.  The page is about how my daughter now wants to live on a farm - ever since we went to a farm last fall on a school field trip. 

 
Title: "Goodbye City Life"  (I wonder if she'll ever get the "Green Acres" reference).  Journaling: "Ever Since we went to the farm with Allison's 1st Grade Class - she's been telling us that when she grows up she wants to live on a farm in Georgia  + we can come too." 

Supplies: Kaiser Craft (flower); 7 Gypsies (journaling thing); Crate Paper (pocket); Quic Kutz die & Fiskars punch.

The Story Behind the Layout:  This layout took me 3.5 hours to make!  Not because I was working on the layout the entire time, but because it was National Scrapbooking Day (yesterday) and I couldn't wait to start scrapbooking which apparently was the call for my son to come into my scrapbooking room and show me every karate kick he's ever learned; for my husband to ask me about what kind of Mother's Day present I wanted; for my daughter to decide that she'd like to start scrapbooking in my room with all of the die cuts right now; which made me want to get out of the scrapbooking room, move the die cutting stuff to the kitchen - which meant I had to do two loads of dishes, clean up the kitchen, move the wrapping paper - since that was blocking where  the old Sizzix was, and then notice that my dogs needed to be separated because Dandy just had surgery and Duke won't stop licking Dandy's wounds, add in a visit from my mother-in-law and various phone calls, and, well, this simple page took a really long time to make.

Sketchy Thursdays

The background paper is actually light beige - about the color of the sand but its hard to tell in this image.  With 45 minutes before the deadline - here's my page for this week.  Its spring break week and its harder to get scrapbooking done but this one was super quick.  I didn't have brackets that big so I hand cut the packaging from a Hampton Art Three Bugs in a Rug Stamp It package - it had the instructions for the stamps inside those big brackets.  The vellum stickers are a million years old but I like them on this layout.   I think the patterned paper is Memory Makers and the "Mac" stickers are another Whim So Doodle scrapbook yardsale find - speaking of which - the next scrapbooking yardsale is 4/9/11 - can't wait!

 

Signs of Spring - Another Sketchy Thursdays Inspired Scrapbook Layout

I have missed one or two of the Sketch Thursdays challenges recently so I realized it was Wednesday and I didn't want to miss it again.  I made this page about Signs of Spring really quick so I can go watch Survivor.  I was inspired by the sketch but also by my recent updating of my Library of Memories storage binders (so these pictures are from 2008) and by our recent trips to the beach and last night to Seminole Lake Park to feed the baby ducklings and bunnies and turtles.  The journaling outlines how we do the same types of things every spring.

March in Florida is blissful. Looking back through my pictures from other years during March I notice how often we fly kites and go to the beach in March.  I might have included some of those old photos if my Library of Memories storage binders were in better shape, but I decided to just scrapbook what I had available and ready right now and used these photos I took a couple weekends ago on this layout.

Homework (8.5x11 Scrapbook Pocket Page)

 
After school homework routine at the office this fall.  I used the self timer on my point and shoot to get myself in the photos and I made the photo grid with Picasa and stitched the orange patterened paper so that it is a pocket and I've used it to store some current home work and notes and pictures and such.

Three Scrapbook Layouts Inspired by Counterfeit Kit Club & Studio Calico

I am so intrigued and inspired by the Scrapbooking Blog: Counterfeit Kit Challenge - finally  there is a way to make your existing scrapbooking supplies feel fresh and current.  I am an avid scrapbooker but I am not currently on any design teams nor do I have any current publishing hook-ups.  {Hint: That means I'm open to any opportunities & love to scrapbook & can whip up a page pretty quickly - I did all three of these last night}.   In other words, I don't have a way to get new scrapbooking supplies for free right now.   While I love seeing the new scrapbook product reports from the recent CHA, I don't necessarily feel the need to go out or get online to buy them.  

Fact is, I already have a lot of scrapbooking supplies.  Lovely stuff, sure its not newly relased, but the vast majority of my scrapbooking stash is still pretty cool - I purged the die cut teddy bears and super cutesy stuff from the late 90s a long time ago.   So, I don't really feel right about buying more supplies when I already have so much from being a scrapbooker for the last 10+ years.   But, the "new" scrapbooking supplies always have their allure - they look fresh and fun to play with and sometimes seem irresistible.  Which is where the Counterfeit Kit Challenge site solves the scrapbooker's dilemma of having a large stash of scrapbooking supplies but still wanting the latest and greatest - the Counterfeit Kit Challenge finally offers a way to use your existing supplies in a way that feels hip and trendy and new!  

I did make a scrapbook kit but didn't take a picture of it.  What is more exciting to me is that I made a bunch of pages inspired by the Studio Calico Design Team, take a look, here they are:

1.  Fall 2010:  This 8.5x11 scrapbook page was inspired by The "Love" Layout at the Ginger Grace Blog.  I made the collage in Google's free photo software Picasa.  Even though I pulled a bunch of 12x12 papers for the Counterfeit Kit Club Challenge, I pulled all of the papers in this layout from my scraps bin instead of cutting up my 12x12 paper.  I am feeling quite thrifty about this page. 

 

2. Almost April:  Another 8.5 x11 Scrapbook page, this time inspired by April Foster's 2 Weeks Layout which also happens to be Studio Calico's Sunday Sketch of the Week.  When I started this page, I again went to my scrap bin rather than the papers I set aside for the Counterfeit Kit Club Challenge and when I was looking for something aqua blue, I found a scrap of Karen Foster Calendar Months paper with the month April on it; since I was scraplifting someone named April, I pulled it.  Then I remembered some thoughts I've had recently brought on by the flyer I found recently on our front gate:

 

That's right, last year our home actually won the Beautification Award, there was a ceremony and everything.  Actually the ceremony was on the very long side and Allison did and said some funny things during the event so I remember it quite well, I actually remember it like it was not all that long ago - I was thinking - It couldn't possibly have been one year ago already.  So the idea behind the page became about how time flies and 11 months can pass in the blink of an eye.  What's more is I remembered that I did the Ali Edwards Scrapbooking Project "A Week In The Life" during the week that we received the award last year - so I pulled out that album yesterday and flipped through it - cementing my astonishment about how time goes so fast.  Scrapbooking helps to freeze that time so at least I can look back and remember all the details.  Unlike April Foster's page which had about 8 vertical strips on the bottom, I used just 4 - a wink to the four seasons of the year and that there is four in our family. 

 

P.S. I actually put the scrapbook layout on the backside of the Beautification Flyer so that it sits in one page protector in my album - so the inspiration for the page is automatically connected to the page and the Beautification flyer is automatically going into the scrapbook instead of sitting around in a "memorabilia" bin and chances are getting lost or tossed at some point.

3. The third scrapbook layout is another 8.5 x 11 page, but this time in landscape rather than portrait orientation.  I was inspired by  Maggie Holmes' Love Your Laugh Layout because she featured a boy in her layout and I feel like lately I've been scrapbooking my girl more than my boy, so this inspired me to make a page about my son using recent photos.  These two photos were the most recent - I took them a few weeks ago - quickly in the car circle - as he was explaining in great detail all about how me made this ceramic mask for me. 

 
Its hard to tell from the photo of the layout but the pattered paper in the background is beige with large light beige circles - above it just looks white.  I used the scanner for these three layouts and sometimes I think that the camera works better even if the alignment of the layout isn't perfect.

Three things about this layout in retrospect:  1. If I used a 12x12 sheet, I would have had more white space which probably would have been more pleasing to the eye; but the 8.5x11 layout fits into smaller albums which is a plus.  2. The cluster of embellishments in the lower left feels a little too forced to me - like I put too much there, but it was fun to use up some scrapbooking do-dads anyway so I'm ok with that too.  3. I need to print some pictures soon - I intended to print every Friday this year but its been almost a month - I need to get a print order in soon!  I need my photo fix!

I was going to announce the winner during my ustream show tonight (but I forgot), so here is the winner:

I have several different journals and scrap books....all have a fun way of holding my personal     feelings. My ART journal can have 'free writing', anything I want to get out on paper....then I paint and collage over it....only I know it's there. My scrap books have hand written journal tags and attachments, this way I don't ruin my page with type~o...but hand written is best IMHO.  I carry a small notebook in purse and have note pads all over....eventually they make it to my workspace to sort and use or file away for latter.  I also find inspirational quotes and poems that will be the theme for my SB layouts. I have a composition book (decorated of course) that I write these in as I find them on line (computer), in books and magazines and hear on the radio.  I have two baby books that were filled in as my boys grew up....I hope to use some of these notes as well some day. I enjoyed your vid and followed you here. Happy you had the chance to vote....and I know the feeling of patriotism...I get melancholy and weepy too....our Armed Forces need more attention and help when they return....and deserve it.
