Scraplifting via Pinterest: 

I saw a message board thread on Two Peas in a Bucket about the Pinterest version of something and the real life version of something - like Cookie Monster Cupcakes - and I thought I'd do a Pinterest Version / Real Life version of my own for the Bella Blvd. inspired layouts I've been making this week.

Here is my scraplift of the Silly layout:

The Scraplift:  I had some paper that was very similar to the pink and white background paper; Bella Blvd.'s paper seems to be woodgrain and mine was zebra stripes, but they "read" the same for scraplifting purposes.  I do wish I would have printed my journaling by computer, but I did it with a Sharpie directly onto the yellow cardstock and I just went with it, but I think the original looks much better.

The Story:  "After a Ski Lesson and a day of skiing, Allison announced "Now I  KNOW I can do anything."  Yes You can Girl!"  Title:  "She has newfound confidence."

Supplies:  Pink and White Patterned Paper is from a Recollections "All Girl" paper pack, letter stickers from American Crafts, DCWV, and October Afternoon, border punches from Fiskars; Aqua striped paper from Echo Park.

 

One Little Word: 2011 Year of Awesome in Review

Last year I did Ali Edwards' project "One Little Word" but didn't sign up for the class and didn't really incorporate my word into my life except that I did create a Book of Awesome Mini-Album and I did keep my word close to my heart and mind all year long.  I loved this word.  It was both sarcastic and sincere.  The year 2010 was a challenging year on many levels so it seemed like having an Awesome 2011 was in order and I must say that I think that the one little word helped.  At the end of 2011, I felt sad to let it go, but I'm not letting it go, I'm keeping the spirit of Awesome with me.   I never really defined the word, but looking back the meaning I gave it was: 

AWESOME:  The attitude of doing your best and making the best of things no matter what the situation and seeking out experiences and feelings of awesomeness. 

Supplies:  Cardstock, Pokemon Trading Card Box + QuicKutz Studio letter die cuts; 12 photos printed 4 to a 4x6 photo (so three photos), sewing machine stitching.

This year I am signed up for the Big Picture Classes One Little Word and I'm interested to see how doing a montly project will bond me to my word.

My 2011 word worked, even without any class, and we had an awesome year full of totally awesome experiences and attitude shifts and I got to notice it the entire time.  Not to be redundant, but it was AWESOME! 

My "One Little Word" Found Me Today

After all the Christmas morning hullabaloo, the water was calm so I decided to go for a kayak ride, my son and his cousin came along. While the boys were having wild adventure in the jungle, I thought about what I was going to do to decide on my "one little word" for next year. I had been thinking about using my word from last year "awesome" again, but I wanted something new; I even thought about using the word new or start, but neither of them really stuck with me. I also thought about the word light, but that didn't seem exactly perfect either. I was undecided. So, while walking down the beach alone, I decided that the next printed word I saw would be my word, no take backs, that I'd just go with it. And then I quickly hoped that it would NOT be "Coke" or "Pepsi" in case I saw an old bottle or can on the island. I came to a mangrove tree with a basket hanging from it, next to it I saw the word that I thought was "top" and then it looked like it might be "open" but as I got closer, I could see clearly that the word was

HOPE

I'll go back to the island soon to get a photo of the tree.

I just googled the definition of hope and this is the first definition I found:

Another Entry for the Book of Awesome: We Saw Winter The Dolphin!

Yep, we did a family date night last night and saw the movie and today we got to see Winter in real life.  Seriously AWESOME!

 And yes, I took those awesome pictures of Winter - and I haven't even edited them yet!!!

Today's Entry in my BOOK OF AWESOME

 
My "One Little Word" this year was AWESOME.  It was a little sarcastic but also a lot genuine.  I wanted to make everything I could more awesome.  I even started a BOOK OF AWESOME inspired by the The 1000 Awesome Things Blog & Book. 

 
So today, while I was folding laundry and looking out the back window, I noticed a large pod of dolphins.  Minutes later, I was on my kayak in the middle of them making eye contact for quite some time with one of the momma dolphins - she was checking me out to make sure I wasn't bothering her baby while she taught him to herd fish.  Standing there on my kayak, mostly excited, but a tinge fearful that momma dolphin would not approve of my proximity, I made a mental note that I would immediately make this page as soon as I got back to the house.

 
For many reasons, this has indeed been my year of AWESOME! And I'm reminded on a daily basis of all the awesome things in my life to appreciate and be thankful for.
