I created a Pinterest Board for 2 Page Scrapbook Layouts. I've been doing a lot of 2 pages layoutslately to get lots of photos on the page - which is not always my goal in scrapbooking - but it does feel good to get a lot of photos into my scrapbook albums and out of the storage binders or shoeboxes. Here's another 2 pager - this one has 8 photos and I've trimmed them a bit but they are still large enough to enjoy.
Do you make more 1 page or 2 page scrapbook layouts?
I used my October Counterfeit Kit Challenge Kit to make this simple and unembellished page about my Dad and his family in 1950 when he was about 3 years old:
I took these photos on my Sony Disc camera in 2002 by playing the old family movie and taking pictures of the television. You might say I was doing a bit of hybrid scrapbooking back in 2002 because I did that collage back then. I'm not totally happy with the margins on the old collage but I decided to use it anyway for this page. I'm also guessing at the date since my father, Robert Thomas Fenderson was born in August of 1947, he looks like he is about 3 in these photos.
I must say it is very satisfying to be getting pages done for my Century Scrapbook Album - it finally feels like I am making some progress into my family history and the organization of all of the records and photos. Even if the rest of it is not completely organized, it will be so wonderful to have one scrapbook album that encompasses a century of memories. I am hoping to have it finished before Thanksgiving so that I can share it with my family then.

2. You can find lots of bits in the Brown University Library - I found that High School Graduation programme from 1903 there.
Its August and I'm itching to go on a road trip - a real road trip - like for a month, but, alas, it is just not going to happen right now for me. So, in the meantime, I'll settle on short road trips over to Disney, I know, rough life right? But really, I would so love to take a road trip up the east coast and end up in Nova Scotia or out west and then drive up the California coast - ahhh, maybe someday.
That page with my daughter at the wheel was from a couple of years ago - seems that we're creatures of habit and we do this girl's weekend to Disney every year about this time.
I made a double page layout for the Get It Scrapped Road Trip Post.
I used the single page sketch to create a double page layout about our recent trip to Orlando; I changed the placement of the sketch for the left side page.
We live about an hour and a half from the Magic Kingdom so sometimes its a day trip and sometimes its an overnight trip; and many times, we go on a whim. A rainy day for us means a great day to visit the Disney Water Parks; my daughter and I made an impromptu trip during T.S. Debby.
Journaling: "Can we got to Typhoon Lagoon? Allison wants to know. "Maybe" I say. "I Have to check my work calendar and see how much the hotel will be." Daddy adds "There's a tropical storm coming!" "Perfect!" Allison declares. She knows this will mean a much shorter line at the zip line which we remember (after we are all the way in at Typhoon Lagoon) is at Blizzard Beach." "It was indeed rainy, but that meant we got a bonus day in Orlando and saw the Brave Movie at Downtown Disney + Room Service at Floridays + A shopping trip to Tommy Hilfiger where Allison bought that adorable dress and I got some new bathing suits at Nautica. We had a fabulous girls weekend. June 2012."

I love scrapbooking. I am busy. I also love art. I am busy. There is only so many things I can do. I have to choose. Somewhere along the way I decided I didn't have enough time for art. I've resisted art journals, even though I secretly know I would love it. I've been afraid it would steal me away from what I'm up to already. Its a temptation I've been resisting (and not the paint kind of resisting).
Are you a scrapbooker like me who just doesn't want to open the pandora's box of art journaling because you are afraid of the time, space and supplies you'll need to add it to your already full plate? I am. But Here Goes:
I think maybe I've stayed away from paint because when the kids were small whenever I pulled out paint it quickly turned into a giant and fun, but giant mess for me to clean up so over the years I think I've been less motivated to get out the paints because of small children's short attention spans and the seriously quick way kids and paint can get everywhere. My kids are a bit older now and I think my daughter would really love some art classes and for me to pull out the paint on a more regular basis; she's been in the paint on a daily basis for at least a month and she's been really good about cleaning up after herself. So maybe its time to get back there to art or at least dabble a bit again.
I signed up for an art journaling class next weekend, I signed up my daugther too. We are both excited. My mind is already full of ideas about how I can use my scrapbooking supplies in art journals. Face it scrapbookers, we seriously already have most of the stuff. I'll dip my toe in and report on my art journaling journey.

Scrapbooking One Month At A Time / Project Lifetime:
I do Project Life and I do regular scrapbooking. In the last couple of years, I've also started doing a page to wrap up a month or season and I'm putting these pages in an album called "Project Lifetime". I think I heard this term associated with the Becky Higgins Project Life, but I'm not for sure on that. The concept is to have one album spanning many years, like the five year journal. So here's one page that's going in that album, a quick, simple page that doesn't need to go through a bazillion details; the main thing is that it just needs to be done!
I did have fun making this border of triangles and my son even mentioned that he thought it was very pretty!

Sometimes movies seem autobiographical, Sarah Jessica Parker's "I Don't Know How She Does It" was that kind of movie for me. There were so many moments and feelings I could so identify with from my own life. I decided to take inspiration from the movie poster and create a scrapbooking page for my "All About Me" album. If you are a working or even a stay at home multitasking mom - you need to see this movie - it is awesome.
So I'm starting to think about our family's plans for this fall. I used Shimelle's Scrapbooking Starting Points {click here for the starting points link} to make my Fall Family Fun To Do List which I framed and will live in my kitchen (where the summer to do list used to be). What kind of family fun and/or scrapbooking do you have planned for this fall?
Most of the scrapbook pages I create are single page layouts, so if I'm in a rut, I like to create a 2 page layout and use a lot of photos. I find that I'm more comfortable using "white space" on a 2 page layout since there is plenty of room for journaling and lots of photos - in this case I was able to get 8 photos on the layout.
Here's the Story: I bought a 25% inflatable boat for the kids during a trip to Treasure Island to watch the sunset and hit the tourist shops. I tested it out in the pool and Dandy Dog jumped in and punctured the outer part of the boat, we tried to fix it but just couldn't find the hole so we cut the outer part off and use the middle as a raft (4 pictures on the right).
Mac and I recently brought "Flat Stanley" to Treasure Island. Here are the photos from our trip and photos of Flat Stanley's book that we are sending back to Mrs. Horning's First Grade Class in Highland, Utah:
I have been pulling pictures from different years but all from the same place: Pass-a-Grille Beach, this layout features 8 photos of my son at different ages at this awesome place. I did little bits of journaling around the layout and also included a printed out history of this beloved beach. This layout is going in our "Places We Love" album and in a few more years, I'll make another page like this so I will be able to see my son growing up on this beach. We have many memories of this place and I also foresee doing some journaling heavy 8.5x11 pages which will supplement these photo heavy pages.

The Scrapbook Daisies site has a Scrapbook Journaling Challenge going on right now, I made this 12x12 Scrapbook Layout on American Crafts Paper and used some scrapbook journaling blocks and lots of machine stitching.
Only catch? I couldn't figure out when I took these pictures! I had matted them a few years ago {which is what I call a half-baked scrapbook page} and just recently discovered the blue mat with the photos but even after searching my computer for about a 1/2 hour I couldn't find these old pictures and even after looking at pictures of my kids from 2006, 2007, and 2008 - I couldn't figure out which year this trip was. Is it important? No, we can still remember this happy trip without knowing which year it happened. But can we learn something? Yes! Scrapbookers forget stuff, which is why we scrapbook and why we should write stuff (like dates) down. I love my American Crafts Albums ith the D-ring / 3 ring binders because I can put in scrapbooking pages that I've made at different times but with the same theme.
